International Declutter Day takes place this year on Saturday 17th September 2022.
This is the 10th anniversary of the event, which started out as Ireland’s National Declutter Day in 2012 and became international in 2016.
I created this positive and interactive event to encourage people around the world to:
- Declutter to feel good
- Donate, give, reuse or recycle
Official event partners for 2022 promoting the reuse and recycle aspect and kindly sponsoring the event are the Limerick-based The Southern Region Waste Management Office. SRWMO promotes waste prevention, reuse and recycling in accordance with National and European policy on the Waste Hierarchy and the Circular Economy. Find out more here.
In conjunction with SRWMO, MyWaste.ie, Ireland’s official guide to waste management, educates and raises awareness around all aspects of waste management from prevention to recycling and disposal. Their helpful search function advises you on how to correctly dispose of a wide range of household objects. Visit mywaste.ie
OLIO is also a 2022 event partner. It’s a free app connecting people in communities globally with their neighbours and with local shops so surplus food and other items can be shared, not thrown away. Download OLIO free of charge today.
