Declutter Therapy Members’ Area

Having worked in IT for 10 years, I left my Software Test Team Lead role in 2010 to focus on running my own business full-time. Although there was some talk of decluttering on a practical level, I felt there was very little awareness of the therapeutic nature of the process and no talk anywhere of “Declutter Therapy”, and I wanted to share what I had learned about these benefits. Having experienced my own challenges with “letting go”, I was also frustrated by the limited understanding and insensitivity around the complex and very real decluttering blocks with which so many people struggle, and I really wanted to help!

After founding “The Declutter Therapist™”, I launched National Declutter Day (now International Declutter Day) and my Declutter Therapy book in 2012.

I am a Coach, NLP Practitioner, Holistic Therapist and Trainer specialising in decluttering and letting go. I could talk all day about the power of “LET IT GO” and I’m very proud that my “Declutter Therapy™” approach is an internationally-recognised modality.

Over the last two decades I’ve enjoyed learning about a wide variety of disciplines relevant to personal and professional decluttering, initially undertaking a B.A. Degree in Media and Communications and a Higher Diploma in Systems Analysis before completing courses in areas such as Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Project Management, Life Coaching, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Quantum Thinking Technologies, Style Consultancy, Training and Reiki Mastership!

Unfortunately, I’ve seen again and again how all the focus on storage solutions, what’s in fashion or skills like cleaning, tidying or organising bring little relief to a person who feels weighed down by their clutter.

Decluttering is misunderstood – it can be complex and sensitive – and I’m passionate about training my students to help their clients get the freedom from their clutter that they truly deserve. As creator of The Declutter Academy Certified online and live training, I teach the essential information, skills and tools for professional decluttering that bring lasting success and transform lives on all levels, as well as the physical.

Following my own Declutter Therapy teachings has brought me great freedom and I now also work as an Intuitive Artist!

BREDA’S INDUSTRY INSIGHTS

Why decluttering support needs to be practical yet gentle

I believe decluttering is all about letting go, and many people come to me for help because although they have tried everything else with their decluttering they are locked in that heavy, well-worn decluttering cycle of trying-planning-failing. Understandably, they feel confused, frustrated and defeated.

Even though we’re desperate for change, pushing and forcing ourselves or someone else to declutter just doesn’t work, and unfortunately I see way too much of this going on in the professional decluttering industry! Because of this, I’ve developed a professional decluttering training model that helps identify and overcome the things that are holding the client back. This proven approach is down-to-earth but also compassionate and gentle, and it brings long-term freedom from clutter.
